The Rosary is one of the greatest devotions of the Catholic Church. It has existed for centuries, and has been prayed by many, if not most, of the Saints. Since the close of the Second Vatican Council in 1965, many devotions such as Rosaries and novenas have fallen into disuse, despite the efforts of organizations such as the Knights of Columbus to keep them popular. Being that the official language of the Catholic Church as a whole, and the Roman Rite in particular, is Latin, the greatest way to perform this devotion is in Latin.

To pray the Rosary, the following prayers must be said in the following order:

The Sign of the Cross
The Apostles’ Creed
One (1) “Our Father”
Three (3) “Hail Mary”s
One (1) “Glory be”
Announcement of the first Mystery
One (1) “Our Father”
Ten (10) “Hail Mary”s
One (1) “Glory be”
One (1) “Fatima Prayer” (since the approval of Fatima)
Repeat steps 6-9 for the second through the fifth Mysteries.
(Optional) If all three sets of Mysteries are to be said, then repeat steps 6-10 for the other two sets of Mysteries.
One (1) “Hail Holy Queen”
Traditionally, unless the three sets of Mysteries were to be said, the Joyful Mysteries were said on Mondays, Thursdays, and the Sundays of Advent until Lent. The Sorrowful Mysteries were said on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays of Lent. The Glorious Mysteries were said on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from Easter to Advent.

Pope John Paul II added a new set of Mysteries, the Luminous Mysteries. Unless all four sets of Mysteries are to be said, the Joyful Mysteries are said on Mondays and Saturdays, and the Sundays of Advent and Christmas. The Luminous Mysteries are said on Thursdays. The Sorrowful Mysteries are said on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays of Lent. The Glorious Mysteries are said on Wednesdays and Sundays.
